Coyote Killing Main Reason?

Definitely not a critique, but after having a conversation with a family member I was just wondering what you all think is the #1 reason to shoot coyotes.

Just a reason for me to get outside and practice calling and the challenge of deceiving your prey, I LOVE CALLING- Any animal, elk, deer, ducks, or whatever. The challenge of tricking them in their environment. And if you can hit a yote at 350 yds, it makes shooting at a deer pretty easy :chuckle: :chuckle:

Honestly I think many shoot them just to shoot chit.....but it does serve a management purpose which is why they have no season...it helps keep their numbers in check which helps game animals, birds and livestock...they have no real natural controls anymore they are very adaptable and will thrive even in cities so they do need to be controlled and we seem to be the predator for the job in the current environment ;)

Coyotes kill on average 3-5 of my neighbor's cows/calves per year.  They also kill close to half of our annual fawns.  These are the main reasons that I shoot as many as I can, plus it is just plain fun!

Let's see:
1.  To protect the game animals
2.  Love watching em take a dirt nap
3. my wife wants all the fur she can get for crafts

That being said, I should probably have #3 at the top spot because generally when she is happy, I am happy!  :chuckle:

When you grow up in cattle country, you grow up shooting coyotes.  Mainly to protect the livestock, but also to help the game animals you love to hunt.  It's a double edged sword though... too few predators = too many deer, and there goes the alfalfa.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

I love to hunt deer, elk, and bear, but that can only be done from August to December or to January for those lucky enough to draw a tag.  I love to hunt, I love to spend time in the outdoors!!!  :IBCOOL:
I hunt coyotes so that I may continue to hunt the remainder of the year!   :)  That being said, the feeling of predator hunting is just amazing!  There is so much excitement hunting something that is actually hunting you. And keeping the predator population under control is a great way to help the pray population, example deer and elk, not to mention rabbits and other small game animals.

TO protect our livestock and deer fawns. Plus they are fun to shoot. When we first moved to Buckley we would see yotes every day. There's still some around but the ones that are left have decided to stay out of the pasture for the most part.

Used to do it for the hides, not so much anymore with pelt prices down. I don't hunt them with just the sole intent of helping the deer and game birds either. Calling coyotes a very interesting pastime that has a long learning curve to do it successfully with any degree of consistently. Besides it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.  :chuckle:

Because they've killed over 40 of my hens over the past 3 years.
