Spring Bear vs. Fall Bear
« on: December 14, 2010, 04:36:44 PM »
If i were to apply for and get drawn for a spring bear permit, and then by some ridiculous stroke of luck also get a bear in the spring, can i still harvest one come Fall season as well? If so do I need to buy a second bear tag to do so?

Only one can be taken on the east side of the state. But you can take one east and one west or two on the west. Yes you would need a second tag.

I have drawn for the spring bear 3 times and killed 3 bears over on the east side, that hunt is my favorite hunt. The spring bears are out in the open more than the fall and their hides are twice as nice. I will be applying again this year but after drawing last year the odds are against me. Last year my dad and I drew as partners and we killed two bears in one day, the first one was shot at 550 yards in the morning and the last one at 350 yards on the evening hunt. Yes we slept good that night, after we got to bed about 2 am. Can't wait for the draw results!!

3 times? Wow!! NE corner?

I've only drawn once. I agree it is a great hunt. Hope to draw again this spring.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll be applying for Monroe since it's close and I don't have to take any time off or too much time away from the family if i get drawn. This will be my first time applying so i don't anticipate getting drawn anyway.

tough odds in the corner, 5-10 tags in most units with about 300-400 applying and some hunts are difficult with limited areas to hunt and weather is a factor, too much snow, fog
