Got the itch early...Ugh

So I either have no life, or am entirely hooked.  Actually counted it out on the calendar and there is 121 more days until turkey season...

Me too, though I didn't count. Actually, on the east side late fall season ends today. I killed a hen on the 2nd with my bow.

Can't wait till spring season again. My daughter will actually be old enough to carry a shotgun this year, hopefully.  :)

I'm going to hunt for the first time this coming year.  Should be a learning experience.

Yeah, I came across some big gobbler tracks while hunting grouse on the west side last week.  Got my blood boiling for April 15.  Not ready to start the compulsive scouting just yet, but I'm getting close.

I think if you catch it early enough, they make a cream :chuckle:

I was looking at some of my pics today. Pulled up some turkey hunting pics, and it got me thinking  :archery_smiley:

I know what you guys mean. I found myself staring at the turkey calls yesterday at the store, and trying to decide shotgun or bow. I have gotten a bird with both, but I think its more fun to slap it upside the head with lead. ;)

Have not also counted the days but I know it is going to happen. Got my first turkey during the late season and hope to smoke it before long. It should be good and will only make me want to go again and get another one or two. I am going to drive the wife nuts with practice calling but she puts up with it.

Ordered my spring turkey tags today. I am all set for the opener.

104 days until the opener, which is on a Friday this year.

Yes, me too.  Got the turkey itch too. Planning on a new blind and other gear.  Will also go on an Eastern hunt back in KS or MO, maybe both if I'm lucky.  The plan here is to go with the shotgun for #1, then take my daughter out for her first hunt as well using a bow.

3 months is way to long.... If I'm losing sleep over it already, who knows what the wait is going to do to me in a month or 2 from now? Its almost like it gets worse every year!

It finally hit me last night. i pulled out the cabelas catalog and bass pro shops catalog and went to town. plus it was a marathon of turkey hunting shows while this was occurring. Ended up ordering a few new decoys, new box call,  Indian Creek Shooting Systems choke tube, and three boxes of Hevi-13, 3" 2Oz 6 shot.

I guess that patterning my Nova will have to hold me over for a few more months.

I just started hunting last fall.  Turkey was my choice of prey for a lot of reasons.  I got a fully grown hen my second day out and saw or heard birds almost every day I went hunting (5-7 days last fall).  Can't stop thinking about it.  I practice calling on my drive home every morning.  Wife is pregnant with our first child and is due May 6th.  I am trying to find a way to get out on some birds before the baby!!  Thats how bad I have it.  I have it so bad people I know who have never hunted or owned a gun want to go.  It's addictive!!!

When does the season start? Can I buy license and tags now?
