Are you target shooting or is this a defence weapon? If you are target shooting get he Kimber. If this as a personal defence weapon go for the Springfield.
It will be a little of both.  I don't shoot competition or anything like that but want it to be as accurate as I can afford.  Reliability is more important but accuracy is a very close second.

OK...here we go....
Are both guns blued? Stainless? I think the 699 Springer is parkerized.
Is the Kimber an internal extractor version or external?....internal is preferred and you can get a new one for 699 with an internal extractor.
Both full (government) size?
Any extra mags or anything...Springfield usually give you some goodies in the new gun package.
Internal extractor Kimber is as good as the Springer and INMHO, a nicer finished gun.
Every Kimber I've shot has a better trigger than the basic or middle tier Springers.
Night sites on the Springer would be a tie-breaker for me.
BTW, I've posted before...I talked a friend into getting the parkerized Springfield Loaded.  It came so rough from the factory it needed a return immediately and still is not that great.
I know that's one of thousands but I wanted to let you know.
My next 1911 will be an STI Spartan.

I own 2 1911's.  The first one is a Kimber Custom II. I have had it for about 10 years and have put several thousand rounds through it. I have not had one problem with this pistol in that time. It takes all ammo that I put through it and it is also accurate with fixed sights. The second 1911 I have is a Springfield Micro Compact that I have owned for 6 months. The first 100 rounds I put through it I had 5 jams, 2 stovepipes and 3 fail to feed. I was using quality ammo and before I shot this I had gone through it cleaning and lubing. Also the first 30 rounds put through either missed the target or barely hit paper at 5 yards.  I am not a sharp shooter but I sure am not that bad of a shot to miss the target at that range that consistantly.  After a hundred rounds I was hitting paper consistantly but not accurately. I am not impressed with this gun and won't ever buy a Springfield again (shot a full sized one and wasn't impressed either). I have so far put more rounds through the gun and it still is a POS. I bought this for cc but I won't carry because I don't trust it to work when the time comes to need it. I am going to load some 185 gr. and pray that it works better.  :twocents:

I believe you are correct about the parkerized finish.  I don't know which extractor the Kimber has but I wil see what I can find out.

Well, I went and picked up my new gun today.  Got a Kimber Custom TLE II, blued.  Unfortunately I did not have time to shoot it yet, probably not til this weekend.  Should have just called in to work.  Oh well, I think that I will be very happy with it.

I'm excited to break it in.  I have slowly learned that you get what you pay for and have started to realize that most of the time a cheap gun is a cheap quality gun.  There are some exceptions but I don't like to find out the hard way.

out of all the 1911 i have shot i dislike the colt the most, seem to be pretty inaccurate and seems to jam more than the rest, but that it could just be that paticular pistol too, i love the kimber and taurus, i would probly pick a springfield or taurus if it was me, good luck!
