My 2007 Fishing trip to Sitka, Alaska
« on: April 16, 2008, 02:15:13 PM »
I just wanted to share some photos of a fishing trip that I took last September. :) It was a Free Guided Fishing trip to Sitka, Alaska that I won by being one of the top salesmen in the Field and Stream department of Joe's Sports and Outdoors. :) It was also my Very First Trip to Alaska! :) (We are having the same contest again this year and my goal is to go back to Sitka on another fishing trip! :))

A while back I met another archer from Alaska on an archery forum and we got to be friends. When I found out that I had won the contest I called him and told him that I would be arriving in Sitka Airport. He and his Mother came to the airport to meet me. They made sure that I got to see all of the wonderful sights and 99% of the island.
Here is a  photo of Bob and Sharon:

Here is a photo of Bob, Sharon and I standing in Totem Pole Park by a really neat totem pole:

Here is the sign at the front of the Totem Pole Park:

The first few photos are of Sitka Harbor:

Here are some photos of the Historic Russian Orthodox Church:

The next photos are of the Historic Park where the title of Alaska was signed over to the U.S. Government by the Russian Government:

Now, for some fishing photos:
Heading out in the morning:

Deck hand Dan getting the rods ready for fishing:

A little rough water:

Now, al few fishing photos:

The Skipper of the boat and the Deckhand:

Who says Girls can't catch fish?

Here are some of the Rock Cod that I caught in 15 minutes of fishing:

Some of the days catch on Halibut and Cod:

One tote of filleted fish ready for the freezer:

The Deck hand named Dan Filleting the days catch as we motor back to the dock at the end of the day:

Now here is a group of Happy Joe's Employees and the crew of the boat:

After the company Bar-B-Que:

Here's one of me and Dan (the deck hand, my buddy, that called me Grandpa ;;;;;;;;;;;;; :) )

Now, back to the scenics:

The Sitka River turns Golden Brown after a rain storm. In this photo all those little black lines are Pink Salmon!

I'm sorry I got so carried away with all the photos, but that trip was one of the neatest things I have ever done in my life and it was so beautiful that I just had to share a portion of the over 600 photos that I took with you!

;) ;)I think I broke my internet browser because it won't show all the photos nor the last of the original post. That's why I posted the repeat message about being sorry about getting carried away with the amount of photos.  :yike: ;) :) :P
