« on: December 16, 2010, 11:34:17 PM »
I was walking through riverfront park in spokane today looking at the ducks when i noticed an all white duck. opon further investigation i relized it was an albino wood duck i was in awe an old man wearing a camo jacket noticed me takeing pictures with my phone and came up and talked to me he said it just showed up the other day he told me in all his years of duck hunting he had never seen one

THey are pretty common actually in the exotic/birding circles.   Woodducks are much like the ringneck in that breeders have done lots of extensive breeding to come up with different "color" versions.   I'd suppose that someones birds escaped with this last big wet snow we had.   Birdguy may have some.  He deals with more waterfowl I believe.  I'll see if I can come up with some pics for you.

I've never seen any before. Cool pics.

Unfortunately I am stuck here at work so can't get at pics.   THe three most common color phases or better yet mutations are Apricot, White and Silver.   Silver is the most recent to hit the market that I know of.

Would you shoot one if it flew into your setup?

if it wasn't for the legs underwater I'd say it is so white that it looks like a white photoshop. Wierd how it contrast with the surrounding water & mallards.
Cool pic though.
