Limits Game Farm anyone hunted it?
« on: December 23, 2010, 04:04:24 PM »
We are thinking of taking my dad on a preserve hunt for his 70Th birthday.  Limits game farm is located in Mesa WA. and is the closest one (that i can find) to his place in the tri cities.  have any of you hunted it?  If so what did you think?  Or know of any other preserves close to the tri cities?

Lots of places listed here: http://www.gamebirdhunts.com/HuntingLocations/OregonPheasantHunting/tabid/114/Default.aspx

I have no experience with any of them, but limits is very close to where I live and it's pretty small and not all together "natural". It's a fabulous place to train dogs and take youngsters, for their first bird experiences...fortunately, we have plenty of options around here and haven't had to visit any preserves. There are a few, in the Columbia Basin also...around Prescott and some up by Cheney. The one up by Coulee, would probably be pretty icy these days, but a quick call would probably go a long way.

Check out the site I sent you and also look at the Washington State offerings...it's the best source of places, I've seen yet.

Good luck and make sure to post your adventure!

Ok...I sent the wrong link. It's not a bad link, just the wrong one. This is the most complete listing found to date: http://www.ultimatepheasanthunting.com/USA/Washington/directory/

Best of luck,

Sorry about that, It was a little too chilly out for our father to join us but my son, my brother (biraddict) and I went and had a blast.  out of our 10 birds released we found 6.  Only bummer was that we had 2 stray dogs run through the field and catch one of our birds and flush 2 others before we could round them up and get them in the truck.  Limits made up for it though and is giving us a credit for the birds on our next trip.  So all in all we found 6 out of 7 and had a blast.  it was a great way to bring in the new year!

Beautiful picture of the dogs...did you train them?  I'm considering picking one up.

That was a fun day. I have never hunted a game farm before being that I live in Grant County and there is lots of good hunting around. I have to say it is great for a young dog that has some experience to fine tune his skills. I don't think it would be good for a dog that doesn't hold point because if they catch one they will get the wrong idea. The birds were really nice for pen raised birds most of them had nice tail feathers still intact. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to get their dog some success under its belt. My dog is the setter in the pics and he had a bad habit of chomping the downed birds. But after a little "shock therapy" he learned not to.  Doing a hunt like that is a great time to work out the kinks.
