Thanks for digging that info up Lowedog.

I hope everybody doesn't get me wrong, I hate deer chasing dogs as bad as anyone. But it's dangerous when eveyone gets wound up about shooting dogs that they THINK are chasing deer.

Dogs chasing deer is a serious problem in NE Washington too. When we were having our meetings on how to deal with the lower deer numbers that is one of the issues we discussed and there are no easy answers. The biggest problem is that half the people who live in the country have dogs running loose and have no idea what those dogs are doing most of the time.

Back to topic. I still hate to see you shed hunters discussing putting more restrictions on yourselves. There are enough laws on the books. And I definitely agree, shed hunters are only a small token of winter disturbances for deer. There are a lot more snowmobilers, skiers, hikers, etc. than shed hunters. Wait till the wolves are hunting them all winter in your favorite shed areas!!!  :yike:

I have never bought into the theory that man is that hard on wintering deer. Deer seem to do the best around populated areas where they have confrontations with man all the time. Now if some clowns are actually chasing deer they need to be stopped. But isn't there already a law on the books regarding harrassing wildlife. That law could be used against the clowns chasing deer to get the antlers to fall off.

As with most things, the problems can most likely be dealt with using laws already on the books.  :twocents:

I for one can not fathom the idea of charging a fee for someone to pick up antlers.  :bash:
