Backyard Blacktail bucks on cam
« on: December 27, 2010, 12:01:44 AM »
Thought I would share a few pics from my backyard.

One is from a trail cam, dated 12/12/2010 @ 10am.

The other was taken from my house in mid November with my camera (not a trail cam), this buck was chasing 2 does in my back yard..  If you look closely you will see a drop tine on his right (our left) just outside his ear, it was about 5" long.  The pics a little blurry, the rack was big, the picture doesn't do it justice.  You can tell his body was all rutted up.

The picture of the deer from the back is the same deer that was standing broadside with the drop tine, it was walking away when I snapped the photo.

PS - just joined the boards, really enjoying them.  Can't believe I just found them, been big game hunting in WA for over 25 years.

Yeah, he was a stud!  He was huge, he made the does look tiny.

I hadn't seen a buck for almost 2 years since I saw these two.  I have a big NPGA area (you can see the sign behind the big buck:) its a big wooded (although choked with blackberry's) valley that must be over a mile long and at the base empties into a big farm.

Saw a small bobcat this summer also, but no luck getting a picture....... yet!   :)

If you live where I think you do,his dad was bigger. Before the housing developments went up I seen a 5x5 with double drop tines.I almost wrecked my log truck when I seen him standing on the side of the hill where your house is now. :yike:

You are probably right about the location, I heard about 5 years ago there were 2 big blacktail that hung out together in the area.  One was more of the typical blacktail rack, the other had the main beams like a whitetail.  There are enough does around, hopefully the blood lines will keep going!  I wont be able to check my camera for about 2 weeks, hopefully I have a few more when I get home.

Getting addicted to the trail cam................
