New duck dog
« on: January 01, 2011, 01:28:15 PM »
So I've had Chloe since she was a pup but never had any intention of hunting her so never did any kind of training. This fall I moved back home and reconnected with some buddies who have access to a great duck hunting area. I took her out there off a whim and she is a natural! She retrieves like a pro (most of the time) and has never lost a duck in the brush. Its amazing how engrained hunting is in these dogs and how they respond with little to no training. Shes been a huge help and i'm very proud of her.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

She's a beauty and reminds me of a champ female I had once(Katie).. She is living her purpose now and will be much happier.  It's kinda sad to think that most labs live and die without ever getting a chance to hunt.

What a great picture.  That's what it's all about and thanks for sharing the story.  Good luck with your dog.

Great tale and pic !  As a side comment.  I've listened to those who don't believe in a jacket for the dog.  "Shivering is just how they warm up"... well... same for us, but, I'd rather not shiver if I don't have to.  Good lookin' dog and glad to see a jacket for her.
