Holster for hunting sidearm

When I am just out with a lighter day pack, I have the Bianchi UM84 II for my pistol and a Bianchi UM84-H Harness that allows me to carry over my shoulder on the opposite side of my slung rifle. I also got the adapter that allows this holster to mount to the Safariland MLS 15 MOLLE Holster Locking Fork, which in turn, allows the holster to mount to molle webbing.

I have essentially the same Eberlestock pack (it's actually the one pack), but I found that the holster above sits too low on the waist strap when mounted on the molle webbing.

I also have an Uncle Mike's kydex paddle holster for the same pistol, and I found that the paddle can be removed from the paddle holster via screws and the Safariland MLS 15 MOLLE Holster Locking Fork (allows molle mounting) can be attached at the same screw locations.  In combination, I get a nice kydex holster attachable to molle without too much trouble or expense (about $35).  I don't know if there are different versions of the UM paddle holster that may not have detachable paddles (or belt loops for that matter), so buyer beware.

This was the first year hunting with this setup and it worked real well for me.  Only drawback is that if you take off the pack, your pistol goes with it in the holster.  I imagine you could get some sort of molle mount to add to your belt to easily switch though.  I can use the above shoulder setup with the larger pack, but it is not as comfortable.

That condor molle holster looks like it might work, but the molle attachment seems like it relies on weaving nylon strapping to mount it to molle webbing.  I find that the blackhawk speed clips provide a nice solid molle mount for heavier items.

The condor does use the weaved web setup. It works fine and I'm fine with it except for the fact that the rifle stock hits the pistol in the holster.

I really dig the simplyrugged.com crossdraw setup but I can see that hitting and rattling against the bino's and that will drive me nuts too.

Maybe I shouldn't carry a pistol.

The nice thing about the Uncle Mikes with the Safariland adapter is that I can get about +/- 30 degrees from vertical swing to allow comfortably positioning the pistol on the waist belt.
