Most Zestful !!!  What a great opportunity for him to get a chance to relax with family and get some trigger time in for fun.  Good lookin' stack of ducks and great pooches too.

Right on!  Do you notice a difference in the taste if you wait a day to pull it off the bird? And I in no way mean that in an offensive way, it's obviously cold and the meat wouldn't have spoiled a day later.

I don't particularly care for the taste of duck, aside from in jerky, but I know some people preach letting deer and elk hang for a time before butchering it. If it does make it taste better I might try it myself rather than just freezing it until I get a batch big enough for jerky or giving it away to family members that like it.

They clean a lot easier the day of but sometimes if I'm goin again the next day I lay them on my shop floor(cold)till after the next days hunt. Taste? No difference. Aging? I think any meat needs to age to break down to be tender but most of my ducks/geese get mixed with my venison scraps and turned into summer sausage.

Last weekend we really had to be careful because of the large amount of Pintails. We got so used to passing on birds that day that we passed on quite a few mallards by accident. They can come in so darn fast when you're not paying attention but when you've already shot your quota of Pins, you gotta make darn sure before you pull the trigger. Those drakes sure are pretty.
