Facebook users should urge WDFW to adopt a pursuit only season.
« on: January 11, 2011, 04:34:04 PM »
The WDFW facebook page started a thread whining about the budget and asked for ideas for cuts and generating revenue.  I left a comment asking for a pursuit only season for cougars and bobcats.  You all should do the same.  :chuckle:

Quote
Naithan Kain Pursuit only hound season on cougars and bobcats would generate some revenue and keep hound hunters here in WA. This would also increase revenue and interest in the cougar permits with hounds. Right now the odds of drawing a hound tag on cougars is to low to make it worth keeping hounds and there is little opportunity to train dogs here in WA. The WDFW could also get good population info from hound hunters in the process.

WDFW Facebook??? How many sportsman even know about this? Do I really have to get a facebook account to get them to here what I have to say? How many people on face book even know what a pursuit season is? I think they will get more negative attention on this allready sensitive subject by posting on facebook. I'm not saying I dissagree, I just think that the majority of people on facebook will not be with us on this matter.

It is just another communication tool to use.  You could send them an email that you have no idea if it gets read or not.  You might be surprised about Facebook users.  Sportsman are probably more tech savvy than you are giving us credit for.  There is NRA, Rocky Mountain ELK Foundation, SCI, DU and countless other hunter organization on Facebook. The majority of Facebook users are not going to go to WDFW's page so it mostly going to be hunters and fishers anyways.

I will join their site.  There are some interesting hunting groups on that site as well.

Kain I agree with you on this and think that the more avenues that we have of getting our views out to the WDFW the better.

Budget crisis? This would be a good one to cut before access and officers.

That's unreal- maybe you need to get Dave workman involved so he can document the times you posted and when it was deleted. As long as your not posting anything illegal, threatening, racist etc. Somehow, people like Dave like not only like a little controversy- they seem to get it out into the publics eye.
This closet is taken- go find your own
