We have to work extra hard to find very few out here in this thick brush, cluttered clear cuts where every dry limb looks like a main beam, and reprod where you practically need a headlamp at mid-day to see anything. Here's my best match set of blacktail sheds found this past January in the reprod. Amazingly, I also have the left side from '06 as well. I found it about 100 yards as the crow flies down the ridge in a thicket. The first photo was taken looking out of the reprod uphill, toward the open timber/ferns (where it was light!). The ATL photo was taken from the exact same spot but shooting into the reprod...with a flash at high noon on a sunny day!! You can hardly see in there and those antlers are chocolate brown. I was very lucky to find these even though it was wide open. I found another fork from '06 as well. I've never found four blacktail sheds in one season on public land. Also, my trailcams never captured this big buck even though they had been collecting deer photos since October.
