I have a 300 RUM and i love it. Very accurate gun and a better killer. The bigger the bullet the better the accuracy is what i have found. They were built to shoot big.

200 grain accubond, i cant remember the powder off hand but i know it is IMR. 77 grains of powder, remington brass, federal primers. I think it is near 2900fps. Which i think is perfect for killing. You can definitely make it faster, but i would not.

I would definitely do the re-chamber and re-barrel to 7 RUM. That cartridge is a screamer. Or you might think about going up to the 300 RUM, or better yet, the 338 RUM!

One of the pards had a 700 Sendero, 300 RUM I used to load for. Rem hulls, 215's, 180 sciroccos', 96 grains RL25, averaged 3460. Had a few over 3500, that is flat ass screamin!! This load shot .5 groups all day long. We should be able to work a little magic with your 7 Nels....

240?  Is that a browning    That sounds perfect Jud...prolly a screamer as well. Dont need much for them "little" sitkas...lol. Them senderos are heavy ass guns.  My bro had the 7 mag sendero....accurate as hell but nothin youd want to pack into the high country.  Ready for a new cartridge.  I think the 180 bergers in a 7 RUM would run near 3000-3200 fps and be a pretty awesome accurate downrange combination.

I want a Sendero just for those times I want to sit all day and watch a big canyon, where a 500 yard shot would be a real possibility. Can't decide if I'd want a 300 RUM or a 338 Rum. But either one ought to do the trick.

I just let my stepson pack it around  Probably weighed in around 10lbs.  That 338 should put a serious smack down on critters.

one of the first rifles i bought with my first ak fishing money was a 700 sendero, in 7 ultra mag. the thing was quite a screamer and shot pretty pin-point with 140's. but the thing was too heavy for serious hunting and quite perfectly useless as a serious hunting arm.  it still resides in arkansas, which kinda says how much i care for it. i didnt care for the rifle, but the chambering is ok, but i could think of better things to point at bear and elk.

ghost,  I have a Remington 700 XCR in 7mm RUM and absolutely love this rifle.  I don't handload but if you do you're really going to love this caliber.  My only knock would be the factory ammo offerings, although I've recently found that there is a factory 160 gr TSX's and Nosler is loading this caliber with 160 gr Partitions!!  Those are a couple sweet rounds for a non-handloader like me.  I found a bunch of boxes of older remington 160 gr partitions (which they don't make any more) and my gun loves them. 3/4" at 100 yards if I do my part.  I've also shot the 150 sciroccos and those things are ridculously flat shooting.  I see they are also coming out with the different power level ammo for reduced recoil for the 7 RUM (like they already do with the 300 RUM) although recoil with my rifle is a non factor.  It kicks like my 30-06 which I haven't heard too many people say about the 300 RUM.  The deer and elk I've seen shot with this caliber have absolutely dropped on the spot.  Long story short, no handload info for ya but a definite thumbs up on this caliber!
