I just got this e mail. For some reason I can't open the rest of the story. Sounds good for elk and hunters.

Washington Gains 96 Square Miles of Great Public Elk Country

Thanks to a landmark exchange spearheaded by the Elk Foundation, Washington now has more than 61,000 acres—an area larger than Seattle—of new public land on the east slope of the Cascades for wildlife and people to roam.

I read about this in rmef's publication the bugle. They have been working on this for a while now. The last phase that they secured is around oak creek, the tieton river area.
