Ridgefield refuge plan completed
« on: January 19, 2011, 05:06:12 PM »
Did anybody see the North County News newspaper last night?  There was a brief article on the new 15 year plan. Sounds mostly disapointing with a touch of good.

I missed it. I went to a public input meeting but never got the results. What did the article say?

The article was real brief. The bad-- It basically said if and when they put in the new bridge we will lose 2 blinds. I believe it will be blinds  4 and 1. The check station would move to the little auto tour booth area and 2 replace the 2 blinds lost they were going to put 2 more in the Teal marsh. Which teal marsh is the little marsh right behind the check stand now. that would just screw the hunting up  for blind 12 and 15. That area doesn't need another blind let alone 2.

Good they are gonna back off on the flooding to try to keep the ponds from getting to deep. and be more applealing to dabbling ducks and not spoonies and divers. They also talked about more crops. But i doubt they will be in the hunting area.

That doesn't seem too bad. Though the refuge seems to be better at making plans then implementing them. I wonder how this plan would be different if the duskies where in better shape?
