I know there is no camping, as far as scouting, that I'm not sure. I have heard that people have been allowed on there to coyote hunt, but not sure if it would be in the same area you sould be deer hunting. Some of the other guys may know more about that.

You go to the place of off 82, watch a video, ID required, proof of insurance and some other stuff. They tell you the rules give you a real good map and tell you how to find out where you are allowed to hunt. and about checking in and out.
Its not too hard, rifle hunters must bring serial number and some other info.
they are pretty nice.

I think you can scout about anytime unless they have war games going on out there.

i have been thinking about putting in for the firing center archery permit also.  i am sure it just depends on what the military is doing at the time, but does anyone on here who has been drawn for a firing center tag have any experience being shut out of an area due to military operations?  can you contact the people there and see when the war operations are going to be going on?  this would be helpful in planning a hunt.

I have heard that you just pick a couple areas you want to hunt for those days when you check in at and they will tell you what areas are open and areas that are off limits. You have to stick to the areas that you pick for that day. That is my understanding of it anyways. Not sure if that is correct or not, but that is what I have heard from others that have drawn the tag in the past.

You can call the day before you want to hunt and find out which area's will be open. Then the next morning you can check in two hours before hunting time and pick two area's that you want to hunt. After that if you want to switch area's just call back to the office on your cell phone and they will change it.

But of course none of that matters anymore since they have eliminated all deer hunts on the firing center this year.

It doesn't exist anymore, they pulled the tags for it this year.  The military is doing manuevers out there during this time.
