I have shot a 16 for almost 30 years and I am set up to load for it.  If you are just going to shoot factory loads another site that had good buys is Able Ammo.

I own four 16ga. guns. Ammo really isn't that rare; if you use the internet. The local Walmart usually has a selection, as well.

Keep your eyes open and you will find them on sale once in a while. Some of the local gun clubs keep them in stock as well. Black Diamond usually has them in stock for trap shooting. 'Mike's Custom Barrels' in Tacoma does 16 gauge work, and can, if he feels the gun is strong enough (model 12 is a good candidate) lengthen the chamber and open the port so it will shoot a 2 3/4" shell. The model 12's were built on a 20 gauge frame, as were many other 16's. Some were built on a 12 gauge frame though, which makes them heavier. Harder to find shells for a 16 in a pinch, no doubt.
