hello i live in davenport washington and i have heard of coyote problems out here at the farms around here and i was wondering if i am capable of starting a coyote control business what i would need license wise i have all the gear i am a great shot just looking to have something for a summer job i have never hunted so please help i just need a list of things i need my parents are good frieds with the game warden out here but i rarely ever see him other wise i would ask i am just looking to do it for people with coyote problems as long as it will pay for the bullets then id like to do it

If you want to become a NWCO nuisance wildlife control operator for the state of washington you will have to attend a class and have a background check as well as pay a fee for charging a fee for control work .
The best thing for you to do is talk to that game warden . he knows the area and the people better then we do and he will steer you in the right direction .
One word of caution , in your post you said you have never hunted?
If you go on someones land to do predator control work and educate the coyotes youll end up causing more problems then doing a good deed. it will get you thrown off most places . if you have never done any control work i suggest you learn how to call, snare and trap before you offer to do control work for a fee .
Its not a easy job , Once you become seasoned at controlling coyote populations and weeding out problem coyotes your neighbors will spread the word and youll be a very busy boy come calving time . Just make sure you get good at control work before you suggest that someone pay you to do it . Good luck and make sure you talk to that game warden , Im sure he will have a lot of great info for you .

If you go that way to become a "Official Coyote Killer" then you end up paying alot of money to the Gargoyle and the Guberment. Why don't you just knock on a couple of doors, a young local kid, you should have no problem getting permission. Being how calving season is starting you should be able to shoot quiet a few and the ranchers will love you. Try it out and see if you like it and if you can make any money at it. There is a recent post about selling fur/ hides on here check it out and weigh your options. I'm just saying go smoke some dogs and have some fun. Makes for some good deer hunting contacts to.

One thing you have to do is take hunter education, if you have done so, thenget out and talk to farmers like the other fellas have said,you only need a hunting license to hunt coyotes but you wont be able to legally charge money unless you have a nuisance license, trapping license if thats how you intend to rid them little fury critters, you could email the wdfw and they could tell you everything you could possibly need to know, but you would be a shoe-in, being a local boy especially if you are good at it, my dadf made alot of extra money removing nuisance animals back in the day when it wasnt as big of a pain, but he also took care of coons,possums,skunks, beaver and what ever else he could catch or shoot, the big thing is get a plan together and go after it if thats what you want to do, you could make good money and trust me if you could make it work and pay it would be alot better job than alot of us have i make damn good money and great bennys especially in todays economy but i still dislike my job, your a young kid so dont be affraid to take chances and dont settle for less than what you want. from the looks of it your already headed down the right path, good luck kid

Like Jack said don't limit yourself to coyotes, there are lots of critters out there people want to get rid of.  Some advice if you are going after the coyotes, hit them right between the ears so you don't mangle the fur. Even if you didn't charge people but only asked to keep the dead coyotes, you could make some pocket money skinning and selling furs. The process to get a Wildlife Control license is not that rigorous, a bright boy like you can be cleaning up the countryside in no time. When you get that license I have a few friends near Davenport that would greatly appreciate some coyote corralling. Badgers and skunks are a lot less fun to deal with but will earn you a lot more money for removal.

Can't shoot Badgers. You need a trappers license because they are a fur bearing animal. Which I think is stupid.

I would do everything under the table as well.  If it is just a summer job.  Make sure you have your hunting license and are legal that way.  If you have that many contacts I would get a job during the harvest.  You would make a lot more money driving truck than shooting coyotes.  You are not going to be able to sell any fur for summertime animals either.
