dropaway rest

im looking for a good dropaway rest that has the bar accross the top ot hold arrow in place befor you draw, or just one that holds my arrow for me.  i dont want the wisker bisket because i dont want to ruin my flechings. let me know what you think.

I have been using the NAP Sizzor rest the last couple years and am really happy with it.  Holds your arrow very securely and opens up completely for clearance.

I'm another one for qad best hunting rest I've ever shot.

with the QAD, just make sure that it does not get stiffer with time.  For me it was very gradual.  Started just getting a little stiffer and a little stiffer over a month of shooting, until I finally convinced myself it was not just my imagination.  my first one started getting stiff and squeaking (falling still worked great, the cocking was a bit stiff and noisy) after something on the order of 3-4k shots using it.  Sent it in and QAD fixed it, but that does take about a month including shipping time.  If it is near hunting season they will find a way to take care of you (when I spoke with them about the repair, one of the first things they asked was how long until hunting season where I was)

The QAD has metal internal parts while the Rip Cord has plastic, when you flip up the lever on the QAD it stay in the upright position unless you release at full draw, if you come to full draw and let down the lever still stays in the upright position, the Rip Cord falls weather you release or not, and the QAD rest has a brake on it to keep the arrow rest from flipping back up after your shot, when the Rip Cord has a potential to bounce back up after you realease and hit your arrow.

I personally like the lever on the qad rather than just pushing down on the back of the launcher like the ripcord.

I went from the whisker ( hated it for 2 years ) to the Trophy Taker full containment last spring on my Mathews. It is the only newer drop away I have shot but I don't see how you could make it better. I was shooting bullets through the paper in 5 shots, walk back tune was good & my point of impact for field points & broadheads is the same out to 60 yards. I would at least consider it. The full containment is awesome & it does not matter where the arrow is, the whale tail picks it right up & centers.  Good luck with what ever you chose. Mike

Jason you are wrong about the rip cord. If you lift it by hand it stays up, to release it pull on the string.

I been happy with the Vapor Trail Limb Driver. Doesn't have a containment thing on the rest itself but a rubber arrow holder on the shelf that suits me fine while walking around or just holding an arrow in ready the position. Just my   might be worth less.

Yeah the Rip Chord Code Red is what I have and it has an internal break.  I have the Rip Chord and LOVE IT!!! That being said if I could do it over again I'd get the QAD.  Simply because the QAD stays upright unless you release, where the Rip Chord will go back down even if you slowlly let down.  Either Rest you can't go wrong, but... I'd get the QAD.  Have never heard a complaint.

no I'm not,
the RipCord
cock the lever in the up position and come to full draw and let down slowly without releasing an arrow and the
arm goes down, cock it again to the up position and if you come to full draw and release an arrow it goes down.
Now the QAD
lock the lever in the up position and come to full draw, and let down slowly without releasing an arrow
the arm stays up in the ready position, no need to recock it like the RipCord, it's still up and ready to draw again.
The only two ways the arm drops on the QAD is when you come to full draw and release your arrow
and if you manualy drop it with the cocking lever.

What's the real difference between the QAD LD and HD? And which would you recommend?
I've been shooting a Mathews Down Force rest with no complaints but it also does not have any type of containment which could be darn handy when your heart starts beating fast.
