I would agree with whats been said above, any bear going 6'8" nose to tail measurement could definitely exceed 300lbs for sure, and looking at him, I would guess you have under guesstimated his weight.  Congrats on a tremendous spring bear.  There not a whole lot of bears that size running the woods.

Way to go slider, glad to see someone finally connecting on a nice Bruin in the Skagit.  I have only seen one so far and that was in the road.  This will be my first weekend to actually get out and hunt all weekend.  Looks like a dandy for this time of year.  Have you seen others?  Congrats

Agreed. . . Don't boil it!  It will shrink quite a bit.

80" length and a chest girth of 48" would put this bear between 350 -375 pounds.  Nice bear!

I congratulate you on filling your tag with such a fine bear. That had to be quite a thrill for you, especially being so close.

With a measurement of 80" nose to tail and a girth of 48" the chart developed by Jim Hackewiecz (who shot, measured and weighed many bears) indicates that your bear would likely have a live weight of about 365#. Please do get the skull measured. Do you know how to do that? Rufous.
