I was given "sal soda" by a taxidermist to do my coyote skull. Haven't tried it yet.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Go to a Beauty Supply store and pick up a bottle of 40 Volume Hair Developer.  Remove the horns and set them aside.  Lightly dampen the skull with water and paint the Developer all over the skull and wrap in plastic wrap and set it in a warm area.  After 24 hours rinse it off in hot water and let it dry.  If it isn;t as white as you would like it apply it again and repeat.  If after 2 applications your skull is not white enough you probably have a degreasing problem.

Sal Soda is ok but it will leave a chaulky residue on your skull.  Sometimes it is a pain in the but to get it removed.

Michelle,

My skull (haha) is 100% clean of all brain matter etc. I let the maggots eat on it for a year. Will the sal soda still be a pain to remove ?

If your skull is 100% clean than why are you going to boil it with Sal Soda?
