Bear Rugs Already!
« on: February 23, 2011, 08:27:12 PM »
Got a call from my taxidermist, sort of a surprise, I didn't expect the rugs to be ready yet. They look good!

I'll get a photo of my son's bear later, it's a little smaller, but not much. With more light on it, the bear looks chocolate brown. Here it looks pretty dark.

Once again, many thanks to Shane, for making this father-son hunt happen! He knows his bears!

Awesome looking bear. I saw one this last fall almost the same color. Unfortunately for me I couldn't get a shot off. If it's still alive it should be a brute this fall. It was really nice last fall.

Nice rug! Looks like a big bear! The old treddle sewing machine in the right corner looks like the same one as I have . My dad and mom bought 7 and fixed five up to work for each of us girls.
Back to the bear, Is that a WA bear, or Canadain Bear?

Thanks all.

He's a Washington bear, from up north of Spokane. Young fellow who posts here occasionally, Shane, guided me and my son. I didn't seem to know what I was doing when it came to hunting for black bears, and was also worried that I wouldn't do a good enough job of skinning the bears for rugs, so I hunted with him. He knows bears, no doubt about that! I learned a lot and we tagged a couple of nice bears.

Dan Yedinak, here in Wenatchee, did the work on the rugs. They both turned out real nice, I couldn't be happier.

Regards, Guy

Very nice looking bear.... got to get me one...
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Bullblaster - good to hear from you!

Yes, we got the skulls too. They look real good.

Decided I really like this bear-hunting stuff!

I was just telling a friend about your adventure with your bear on that hunt. Quite a hunting story. Still hard to believe that three of us took good bears so doggone quickly. Shane knows what he's doing for sure!

All the best, Guy

Alwine - looking forward to seeing the video! It was a great father-son hunt, with good company too.

Yeah - I'm fond of the rifle, the Number One handles pretty well.

Yeah we did see a crazy amount of bears in 3 days, think 14. Thank that to the berries not being dried up yet on those faces, some were peaking still. Fun hunt for sure, my favorite place in the world to be is up there.
