No limit to number of rounds in rifles, just in shotguns while hunting game birds.  Like you said, your shotgun can not be capable of holding more than 3 shells.

Only while hunting though... to the best of my knowledge

Right, you can have a shotgun with a drum of shells attached if you're not hunting Game Birds!

Thank you that means I can get a removable mag for my sks and make those coyotes pay...  :guns:

Try being a better shooter instead, it's reckless to just open fire with a mag full of ammo and chase coyotes with it, not to mention irresponsible. Maybe a nice single shot rifle would get you into the right state of mind for real hunting instead of the Rambo'ish attitude  :dunno:

Reckless, irresponsible, and Rambo'ish.

There you have it folks, get a single shot rifle and do some "real hunting"...anything more is just all of the above.

Falfire, you continue to amaze me.

The thing that it could be useful for is if you do pest control for a farmer and he wants the pack gone from his land, so there is one use, and there is a difference between pest control, and hunting morally and in action, but by law the line is blurred so that's where I wanted to know. And by the way if I go deer hunting I will never have more then 5 rounds in the rifle anyway... if you cant hit it on the 2nd or 3rd shot you shouldn't be hunting anyway...
Why have one gun when you can have more?

but what if the deeris 7 or 800 yards out and running i might need more then 3 rounds

My brother-in-law tells the story about how as a youth he got 'promoted' from a single-shot to a pump shotgun. He started missing birds, so he switched back to the single shot and was more successful.  Making first shots count is the way to go.  Don't count on a second shot helping you out, unless there is a second coyote in the field of fire (which happens).
Live all you can: It’s a mistake not to.

Watching the coyote hunting shows the bolt guns sure seem to have a lot better kill ratio than the AR's.

I agree with miles.  I don't see where hunting dogs with a sks is reckless, irresponsible, or Rambo'ish.  How is it different than hunting with an AR?

:yeah:

Don't you hunt dogs with a semi-auto Fal? I agree that 1 or 2 well placed shots are better then 30 spray and pray shots but putting it the way you did made you sound like a prick. The last thing we need to do is scare away new hunters.

I'd always though that was only for Waterfowl, not for pheasant or grouse...??

Nope, it goes for all game birds, pheasant, quail, grouse and all the rest.

From page 21 of the 2010 WA Bird Pamphlet:
Firearm Regulations
IT IS UNLAWFUL TO HUNT:
• Game birds with a shotgun capable of
holding more than three shells.

How many?  All that will fit. :chuckle:

Although there is no round count, they do look at your type of round.
I have had chats with LEO's that commented you can't use full metal jacket bullets, ie: SKS/AK to hunt with.
I can't find anything about that, but it is on their minds.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

They shouldn't be looking at your type of round for coyotes- there is no rule for not using full metal jackets while hunting.  The only ammo restrictions are on waterfowl, and now on some Wildlife areas and pheasant release sites you have to use non-toxic shot.  It may not be the best round to use for hunting, but it's not illegal in WA.

Last I looked WA required 'Soft Point-Designed to Expand Point" bullets

Hmm?  can't find that now??

Gee Grundy not trying to sound like a prick at all but I guess it takes one to know one as they say!  :dunno:

Yes, I do indeed hunt with an AR on occasion but more so with a bolt gun, Savage actually, in either 22-250 or 243 and I never said hunting with an SKS is a bad thing. Just ripping off a 20 or 30 round mag at a little coyote is a little, well....... Miles'ish ya know. I usually put in 5 rounds in my mags for a days hunt since I don't have any need to purchase additional 5 round mags, I simply use what I have for now, the standard GI issue and P-Mag 20 rounders work very well even if loaded with only a few rounds, about the same as a bolt gun actually.

Generally it only takes one very well placed shot to anchor a dog and all of my deer kills with an AR have always been one shot kills, I suppose that is what makes some of us a little better shot than others that feel the need to spray and pray. There are those of us that use the AR platform with complete confidence and have devoted years of training to use such a weapon in all aspects of life, knowing it inside and out from building dozens upon dozens, it makes some of us rather unique and not the type that feel just because we can carry 100 rounds of armor piercing rounds in one mag that it is necessary to discharge all of them at one little coyote.

A miss is a miss regardless how you look at it or who you put behind the trigger, unless of course it's MIles, he can't do anything wrong, what a guy  8) But having a young hunter out there with a 30 round mag can be a little enticing to just let it rip. You know, like how Miles shoots off his mouth and makes himself look like a... well.... prick, you know the type right?

Sportsbud, SKS  rifles are not known for their extreme accuracy, might I suggest an AR15 from DPMS or Rock River Arms or better yet a custom built gun from Mike MIlli at Dedicated Technologies, he makes some of the finest and most accurate AR15 rifles and carbines known to man. Using a really accurate rifle will give you the confidence you need to take out those pesky vermin for the farmer you speak of and reward you with years of return visits instead of blasting away with a rifle that is known for it's amazing ability to operate in any battle field in the world yet give you the accuracy of a spit wad. I have used AR15 and AR10 rifles for many years and I am more than willing to assist you in any questions you may have regarding the uses of them.

Miles can certainly assist you with being obnoxious and a lazy azz welfare case if you care to take up government assistance before the ripe old age of 10.

Let me know if I can help.

Prick Off  :chuckle:

Checkin' wind and makin' smoke.
That's how I roll...
