Almost Springer Salmon Time
« on: February 26, 2011, 12:38:01 PM »
Well, it is almost time for the madness to begin.    :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Has anyone heard what the state has decided on regs yet?  Any forecast on run size?  Can not seem to find info anywhere..   :dunno:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

According to the pre-season forecast, 198,400 upriver spring chinook will return to the Columbia River this year, close to the 10-year average. While that prediction is well below last year’s banner run of 315,345 fish, the number of large five-year-old chinook is expected to be up significantly over last year.

They have been catching them on the Willamette pretty regularly now. Get out there before March 1st while you can still keep two fish  :IBCOOL:

Went out in the Columbia for a few hours this morning.  Saw 2 fish caught and had one take down that didn't stick.  Columbia was 38.8.

Going to get real serious in 2 weeks.  Putting new electronics on the boat.  A larger projected Willamette run this year...around 110k compared to the 60k range last year, but smaller mainstream Columbia run compared to last year.  By the way...season set to end April 4th from Bonneville down unless things change.

NW Sportsman mag reported (I think I saw it on Facebook) one was seen or caught or something at the barrier dam on the Cowlitz if I remember correctly the other day.

I know what they are saying about the numbers, but if I am not correct(I may not be!!!) the number of Jacks last year was off the charts.  Wouldn't that mean we should have a better than average year?  Either way I have my camping spot and am ready to catch the best tasting fish out there.  Good luck to you all and see you on the water.
