Those so-so springer seasons have been always better for me on Cowlitz. I have a good feeling for this year. It is just boring when you have to get them up by the dam, when hatchery releases that poop water, or whatever... We want them scattered throughout the river...  :drool:

Lookin forward to this season only caught 2 last year. A few people I know have already caught fish one was 33lbs the other was 18 on ths C R.

Just started springer fishin off the dock at washougal.
Saw pic of a 23 and 28 lber caught just upriver.
Wife is chompin at the bit to go humpy fishin. :chuckle:

Fished at Hamilton island today down river from Bonneville.
Released a springer today. Guesetamate the weight at 15-18lbs. native. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
What a purty fish.

I will be fishing springers on the cowlitz.  I still need someone to help me learn to use a slide planer correctly.

The hunt,
Try wrapping The arm with 1 wrap of 3/16" pencil led down by the thing that actually pulls the planer away from the bank. Find a deep slot on your side of the river and let it out. Not much to it. think like a fish and try to perdict where they will travel
