Thoughts on Savage Weather Warrior Series
« on: March 03, 2011, 08:44:15 PM »
I'm going to be getting a new 270 WSM soon.  I was originally leaning towards a Tikka T3 but I have heard some really great things about the Savage Weather Warrior series.  Anyone own one of these? Likes/dislikes?  Thanks.

I have one in 270. I love it its my go to gun. For me the main advantage over the tikka is the accutrigger and thats what kept me from goin with the tikka considering im abit flinchy when it comes to having to squeeze the trigger.

I have one in a 338 Win Mag. It is a great gun. The stock isn't awesome, but does the job fine. I bought my gun right as they came out with the accustock, so mine is a pre-accustock model. I use Barnes TSX bullets and get about 5/8" groups at 100, and everything on the gun is stock. The accutrigger is a great crisp clean trigger.

Overall a terrific gun, especially for the price point.

I had one in .30-'06 before the accutrigger came out.  My Barnes XLC handloads literally cloverleafed at 100 yards.  Right-out-of-the-box, this was THE most accurate big-game rifle I've ever owned.  With an accutrigger it probably would have made a single jagged hole for 3-round groups.  The 110/116 series rifles ARE kind of ugly, but man are they accurate.

Both the Tikka and the Savage are great guns, But having owned both I prefer the tikka trigger to the accu trigger only because of the slack in that skinny trigger shoe  on the savage. The Tikka has a real crisp and light trigger that's easily adjusted..
