IMO..... cummins motor, the interior and ride of the chevy and the looks of a ford.

Ford screwed up by getting rid of the 7.3. Loved that motor for years!!! But my duramax now I can't complain about anything but fuel mileage. 13 mpg city and 15 hwy. Not good!

Something must be wrong with your truck if you only get 13/15 
My is a 06 crew cab, lifted and running 35's and I average 16.5. All highway I get 19.

Sixtynhalf   Did you do the lift pump upgrade and put it in the tank?  On the 03 many had an exterior lift pump that when it goes out puts strain on your injector pump and normally causes it to fail. That normally happens on a long drive where the lift pump provides enough initial pressure to start then fails. The injector pump is still able to draw fuel from the tank however it creates lots of stress on the pump... Most aftermarket pumps are not in the tank... Not sure why.... Many lift pumps fail from dry suction when prime is lost for whatever reason. I put a factory in tank pump kit in that dropps in. the in tanks don't lose prime and always stay lubed. it is also the design that they use int the 04-06? lift pumps are cheep $200. common rail injection pumps are not $2-3k   When my lift pump whent out i lucked out it was a short trip, 5 miles, and it failed during that trip. Normally i run my truck for 200+ miles without shutting it off...

One of the nicest things about the mechanical LP is if it should happen die, you still have your standard lift pump to get you home.
Most aftermarket electric LP's replace the standard lift pump.  It croaks, your dead in the water.

These are the steel wheels i'd like to get for my duallie I'd like to run the 245/70R19.5 which is about 1 in bigger in OD adding about 3% in circumference. The sweet spot on my truck is at 60mph. I would love to either go a little faster at the same rpm or get a little better MPG at 60. No the mention the tires wear like iron, and you can cap them in any truck tire design.... I've had some real mud flingers on my 2wd and would love to get and other 4... Wheels run about $260 ea

Common rail injection pumps are only $2-3k if you get them from the dodge dealer. Otherwise you can buy a built one from a bunch of different shops for starting at around $800 all the way up to $3000 for a extremely built one.

Had a a couple Powerstrokes in the past with many glow plug/ relay, cams sensor and warped brake issues.

Got 106K on my Dodge now with out the issues and better mileage. Had to do a little more work to match the HP but it was wort h it.

My brother has one, he has a new block on the way that we are going to put in this winter. It had about 130,000 miles.

Mine in my 2001 Dodge cracked at about 112,000mi.  No warranty

I had a 99 with a 53 block.  Ran the snot out of it for 150k miles.  I wrecked it last winter and insurance totalled it, but I still had the original clutch, tranny, and 53 block with a lot of heavy towing on the truck.

Actually in the mid west there is a big diesel conversion movement going on. The cummins in line 4 used in backhoes and other equipt can bolt right up to the dodge pickup trannies. the bell housing is the same for the in line 6 and 4...

I think i'd had even read about a yanmar, so don't laugh too loud PolarBear!
