What caliber are you using, just shoot the coyote if you can get 400 yds from him.  :dunno:

I want to see the donkey decoy in action...  :chuckle:

First thing I thought of when I saw this thread was the goat on Jurrasic Park... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

A poor southern boy that i was in the navy with used this method except he couldnt let the chicken get killed so he used two methods,
1. chicken in a 5 gallon bucket with a chicken wire top if the bird didnt fuss enough
2.  he hung it upside down from a tree with fishing line about 8 feet off the ground.

Said he's slayed a butt ton of dogs using these 2 methods..

One moment you're flying south for the winter, then - BANG - gravy.

Years ago a trapper I knew of would use chickens in a wire cage.  He'd set it up in a clearing and then surround the cage with foothold traps.  The coyotes didn't even wait until the people were out of sight.  They would wait until the humans were about 100 yards away and start moving in.  The guy wouldn't wait for them to get to the cage and just shot them instead.
I've been looking into using a goat or lamb for cougars.

From the sounds of it your idea sounds really good. The reality the bird doesn't even need to get hurt, not that i'm worried about a chicken. When trapping use to be more prevalent in WA I use to go to the rendevous all the time. I had a guy tell me one time he would call in bobcats all time by taking a rabbit and hang it upside down in a tree or tie it to a bush. He did this around his traps also.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

I'm sure great, taste like *censored*..........cat. Sadly their whining would just scare off any predatory animals. I'm sure out of country ungulates would come a running when the lib tard tried to give them everything under the sun. its a shame we cant seem to find a way to manage them like we do our other animals. Their Young seem to breed into others creating more lib tards

DAD used to take a couple chickens out and hang them by their feet in a tree. They will start squaking to hell and back........

just my  :twocents:

It's probably a lot more economical than buying a $500 Foxpro.   :chuckle:

:chuckle: HAHAHAHAHA!!  :chuckle: Now THAT was a good one! I dont have much to add to this, I just had to say that when I read the subject line I laughed so hard I about spit coffee all over my monitor! Then the part about it 'being personal now' - that is funny!

Never thought about tying chickens up but I have asked my boys if I could use their pet rabbit for the the day. I would tie his little rodent ass up, stick a thumbtack in his paw and wrap it with duct tape so it wont come out. But when they hear that they always tell me NO DAD!
I aint superstitious - cuz its bad luck!

well i am heading out to this area chickenless at the moment. I will use a frozen duck (already breasted out) that i train my lab with as bait. If nothing shows up it will be a free snack for the dogs. Here's banking on killing a dog today!

Well back when I was growing up in the Pennsylvania farm lands we use to borrow one of the neighbors pet dutch rabbits - It didn't really hurt them but it scared them a little - We would grab them by the ears and shake them and boy did they Squeal  !! We would then pet them to calm them down then wait a few minutes and do it again - Best Coyote , Fox and Bobcat call we ever used and it really worked good.
