I vote Loomis.
I pro staffed for St Croix for a while and rods kept breaking doing the same things I do with my Loomis rods. Gave that up.
Did not have much better luck with Lami's either. They break or explode under the same stresses the Croixs did.
Even pro staffed using Custom built Rain shadows. They sucked to. We have one 1021 RS that has been in 4 times. Batson's said the spindle was too large. they kept trying though and there service is great! But it sucks not being confident in your rods ability. They now quit making the EX-Fast 1021...

I have never owned any of those rods.  I like the cheaper ones that I do have.   I have some buddies that fish loomis and they don't seem to out fish me

Lamiglass, they make a back pack rod that you can carry to high mountain lakes in a case, three pieace case. Sweet

Custom built.

I don't get the guys that'll fork over $300 for Loomis, and get cheap components and a shiatty wrap job. Loomis quality has gone right in the crapper after they sold out to Shimano.

Pick your blank, pick your components, and either build it yourself or pay to have it built. Even if you pay someone, you're still likely to come out ahead in price, and it'll be built EXACTLY the way you want it.

But then there will always be the guys that have to have a Loomis. I guess they want everyone to know they got raped for an overpriced status symbol.

Problem with custom's for me was the wait or inconvenience when something happens to it. Getting a replacement blank then getting it re wrapped. I like taking my rod in and getting a new one on the spot. Ill pay the expediter fee for that turnaround.

I voted loomis because my imx's can't be touched sensitivity wise. My 2 favorite rods are my lami 9'6" 4-8lb espirit and my lami 12' 6-12lb cert pro. I have an all star that has caught more fish than all of my other rods and that thing is bullet proof. I have favorite rods for every situation. :chuckle:

What do you want to fish for?  I pretty much only use lamiglas and Gloomis rods.  Probably have 25 gloomis rods and 10 lamiglass. They both work.

I guess that would be an issue if you only own one rod. How many fishermen do know that only have one rod though?

If I broke a rod (never have) I could walk out to the garage and take my pick of the other 15 in the rack.
