Fletching

Just starting to build by own arrows. I use a 4 blade broadhead and was wondering if it is better to use a 4 fletch pattern or just stick with 3. I plan on building both, but have a limited amount of distance I can shoot. I've heard and read it's mainly preference, but hoping for some personal experience from some hunt wa members.

I guess it comes down to personnal preferrence, I normally shoot 3 fletch, but have 4 fletch on my "Bill Sweetlands" they were made for me for my 70# Recurve with 160gr Grizzly BHs, I was told they would help stabilize the heavier arrow/broadhead,
I dont see a whole lot of difference in flight from my "Grizzly Sticks" w/ 160gr Wensel Woodsmans, but they do make a strange "buzzing" sound in flight, so I am more inclined to use the GS's and save the Sweetlands for collector value.....

I have shot big 4 blade grizztricks with 3 blazers and they had the same poi as my field points. I have had guys tell me it won't work but they are flat out wrong. Its all about how your bow is tuned.

I shoot 4 vanetec HP'S they are just like the blazer but have a better bottom for holding glue and sticking on the arrow. I like 4 fletch, 3 should work. But with my broached I always get better groups with 4 fletch. Also 2 more positive things are. It can help you see the arrow in flight better. But the main thing besides for the groups shrinking is. You don't have to look down to nick a arrow. Any way you put it on it will fly the same.

I even shoot 6 fletch on my read arrows. They are 3" feathers and that really puts the spin on them with a fat broadhead.

Thanks guys! So far I fletched up a half dozen with a 3 vane offset. Seem to fly a little more stable. My nano arrows seem crowded with 4 fletchings, but will dress a few more up and see how they work.

I like a good offset, I tweak my jig to give me the most I can get. You can play with that as well to really tune your arrow. They will seem very crowded on those smalller dia arrows

I've always shot 3 fletched arrows with no problem.  I shot 4 blade slick tricks hunting last year with 3 blazers and they flew just fine.

 Ive try all kinds of combination didn't see much  of a deferens , now I'm stick to three but with right helical this way it stabilize arrow faster and produse a very good group at long distans especially with broadheads

I've always used 3 vanes with 2, 3, and 4 blades. Never had a problem. I fletch all my own.

Switched to 4 blazers. I like that I don't have to think about which way to nock the arrow. Devel is in the details.
