Good day on the river
« on: June 20, 2007, 03:33:41 PM »
Took my brother in law to fish this morn. He had never caught a steelhead before. I looked at the tides and it was at 7 this morn, so we got to sleep in a little.
Got to the hole and there were 3 guys in it, so we moved on to another. 30 minutes into the tide we are getting hit here and there, brother in law had a swing, fish on and gone. Leader broke, it was brand new. Oh well...
So then my turn, to bring a very nice 12 pound buck to shore.
We sat for about an hour, and i tied up a new SNG and was going to change out the one i had. I pick up my rod and i had another fish on, i handed it off to my brother in law, and i picked up his rod to reel it in, out of the way and yup you guessed it, fish on for a double. So now he has my light steelhead rod with a hot 8 pound hatchery fish and i had a 12 pound fish on his heavier rod. I landed mine and went to help him. All was fine.

About 1110 i had the urge, i had to go to the restroom, so i went to the park and when i get back he is walking up the bank with another 12 pound steelhead. So for the day we have 3-12 pound steelhead and 1-8 pounder...
We lost 2 others to fish dragging leaders over rocks, but it was an awesome day.
Will try to get my brother in law to send me pics...

I got skunked but John did well last November.

Bryan has a guide operation on both ends of the Clearwater. He'll drift or power boat for ya and do fly as well as gear. Great kid it was a pleasure to float with him.
