Anyone heard of Mongrel Broadheads?
« on: April 21, 2011, 08:14:05 PM »
So i was on Ebay and i came across a 20 pack of Mongrel Broadheads and ended up winning the bid on them for 11.00 dollars.

Any of you guys ever hear of them or try them?

I shot one today and at 20 yards it penetrated the same as just my field tip. They are basically designed to be used with a standard field tip.

They are 31 grain stainless steel cartridges,

They reccomend for small game / birds to use them with a blunt tip field head for maximum shock / reduced penetration.

And for big game to use a tapered slender field tip between 65-75 grains for for max penetration.

You pretty much only get one shot with them that why they are so cheap.

Just wondering what are your guys thoughts and if you have used them before.

Here is the website  :  http://arrowends.com/
~  ~One of my favorite clothing patterns is camouflage. Because when you're in the woods it makes you blend in. But when you're not it does just the opposite. It's like "hey, there's an *censored*."”

Be come one with Nature......... Then Marinade it.

One moment you're flying south for the winter, then - BANG - gravy.

My first question would be - are they even legal to hunt with in Washington?

Don't look legal to me.

It is unlawful to hunt big game animals
with a broadhead blade unless
the broadhead is unbarbed and
completely closed at the back end
of the blade or blades by a smooth,
unbroken surface starting at maximum
blade width and forming a smooth line
toward the feather end of the shaft and
such line does not angle toward the
point.

I believe the back of the broadhead has to at least be at a 90 degree angle...

Might be good for your grouse arrows. I'd be careful using them on carbon arrows as it looks like they'd cut into the shaft after a few shots. Theyb also look like they could possibly fold flat if bone was hit. Just an opinion based on the pics. Might be sturdier than they look.

They look like they would work well on grouse or bunnies.

Yeah! I would use those for some tasty grouse, way better then blowing up a 10+ broadhead on each grouse! :IBCOOL:

If  u hit the website i linked you buy them by the 20 pack for really cheap,

When i shot my foam block there was no signs of damage to my carbon arrows, but upon pulling it out the blades fold completely opposite, so they were toast,  pretty cool cheap method to handle your small jobs
