The Easterns in Thurston Co are gobbling now; Merriams in the Klickitat also.

Talking yes.. Interested in coming in? Not so much. Lots of hen talk to deal w/ on opening weekend. As the season progresses they will get desperate to bread though.

I know I don't really care if they are verbal, just as long as they do come in ...

Some of us were fortunate enough to hunt or at least guide during the youth weekend.  I agree with klickriverchromer..  Lot's of talk going on in the woods and a fair amount of gobbling but not much was interested in coming to a call.  They seemed to be content with staying in large flocks and were more concerned with feeding than breeding.  :twocents:

While at work today I saw a flock in their usual hangout down by hangman golf course and they were gobbling up a storm. I have a gobble shaker I carry around when I'm working in the boonies so I can play with them if i see them. Anyways they are all henned up but very vocal. Wish i had a camera.

Put 7 toms to bed tonight there were 6 hens w/them. Maybe a double in the morning. And yes gobbling on the roost and a little out of the tree in the morning.
