Alpine Lakes Hike
« on: May 26, 2008, 11:33:44 PM »
Spent Sat. hiking up into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Beautiful day but lots of snow above 3000'. Should have brought the 4wt, trout rising in the open water!

My hiking buddy, hard to keep her out of the water.

Great day to be out!

Great pics. I love that place been going there since I was a kid. Tried a few weeks ago to get up there and made it to the first bridge on the road and had to turn around to much snow. About another month or so then the snow will gone.
Hunting and Fishing is not what I do. But who I am...

Great pics! I really like the Alpine lakes area and plan on spending allot more time up there. That looks really familiar, think I was in there on a snow shoeing trip this winter.

Its a popular place, but its nice. Depending on how far you want to go, you can hit two or more lakes in a day. I forget the name of this lake (its just off the trail aways), but the next is Ollalie. We could not drive to the trailhead so it added a 1/2 mile or so to the trail. Next time I'll explore armed with the fly rod. Anything to get out and keep in shape for hunting season.

Heres a few more from last weekends Alpine Lakes Wilderness hike
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.
