Little (?) Bear Down

I wasn't specifically targetting your bear bearhunter...sorry about that.  It was more along the lines of patting a good hunter on the back for what I consider a job well done.   Lots of folks just drive around and look for them, with no plan whatsoever.

No problem, I guess I kinda took it personal since I did shot mine in the road   even though it took alot of hunting to find where the bear were located.

I took this bear in the Blue Creek unit.  Good unit, but access can be difficult (at least where I hunted) since there is a lot of private ground and there are a considerable number of smaller parcels with a lot of different land owners.  You really have to do your home work and ask a lot of permission for access.  It also took some considerable time in the field to find a good one.  Fuel cost is now unfortunately a big consideration if you don't live close. 

Not trying to discourage people from putting in, just giving some background from my experience with the hunt in this particular unit.

Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet....maybe a rug or a full body.  I would hate to wast this particular hide on a half mount.  I have a WA bear that I shot two years ago that is larger than this one, but it is a fall bear and doesn't have near as nice of a hide.  It's at Peyser Taxidermy right now waiting to get full body mounted, but I may have to swap em' out and make this one a full body and the larger one a rug.  If I win the lottery, I'll full body mount both of them!

This one would make a great full body though with the nice hide it has and the cinnamon color.  Too bad it is so much $$$$

I think I am going to continue on with my other bear as a full body because he has a nice head on him (just missed 20") and has such a unbelievably huge body.  I think I'll wet-tan this years Spring bear and sit on him for a year in the freezer. 

I'm working on a bear in Idaho that we have trail cam pics of that should tape out bigger than both of these.  So that would give me two brown color phases and one black that are all worthy of mounting.....I need another job to pay for all this taxidermy! 

May have to do a fight scene or something.

A fight scene would be awesome! I can see alot of alterations and alot of money rackin up on that mount! It will make your taxidermist happy though! Can you say CHACHING$$$$

Here's a pic of the bear I shot in 06' that I'm getting a full body on.  Unfortunately I didn't have any good pics readily available that really show the size of him.  He's a WA fall bear shot in the Blues and tapes out at 7'3" tip of nose to tip of tail and his skull just misses 20".  Todd Peyser is an official scorer and he measured him.  To put him in perspective, I'm 6' and weigh 245 lbs.  Maybe I'll look through some of my files and start a new thread.
