MY WEIMARANER IS DOING GREAT!!
« on: April 21, 2011, 08:31:05 AM »
A BUDDY OF MINE GAVE ME A WEIMARANER ABOUT A MONTH AGO,  HE FOUND THE DOG LAST HALLOWEEN. THE DOG WAS PROBABLY ABUSED BY ITS PREVIOUSE OWNER CUZ HE WAS VERY SKITTISH AND SHY. WELL MY BUDDY WORKED WITH HIM A LITTLE,.. GOT THE DOG INTERESTED IN BIRDS.  BUT HE COULDN'T KEEP IT VERY LONG BECAUSE HE BREAD GERMAN SHORTHAIRS, AND HE DIDN'T WANT AN ACCIDENTAL GSP/WEIMERANER CROSS  :chuckle:  SO SINCE MY PUP GSP THAT I BOUGHT FROM HIM LAST YEAR DIED OF PARVO, HE DID ME A BIG FAVOR AND LET ME KEEP THE WEIMARANER.  THE DOG NEEDED ALOT OF WORK..

WELL I COULDN'T AFFORD A BIRD LAUNCHER, SO I BUILT ONE WITH SCRAP METAL FROM AROUND THE YARD. (FUN PROJECT BY THE WAY) AND I SATARTED WORKING WITH THE DOG. SO FAR, HE HAS GOT LL OF THE BASIC COMMANDS DOWN,.. AND I GOT HIM WOAH TRAINED.  HE POINTED BIRDS, BUT ONLY ON SIGHT... BUT I KEPT WORKING WITH HIM,.. AND YESTERDAY HE SCENT POINTED HIS FIRST BIRD!!!  :IBCOOL:  :IBCOOL:

I'M PRETTY EXITED NOW, CUZ THIS DOG IS CRAZY ABOUT BIRDS, AND HODS POINT REALLY GOOD,  AND IS A FAST LEARNER,  I JUST NEED TO GET HIM COLLAR CODITIONED CUZ ONCE HE'S OFF THE CHECK-CORD, HE DOESN'T LISTEN VERY WELL.  LOL.  BUT HE WILL DEFINATELY HUNT.

ALSO,  HE'S AN AWESOME FAMILY DOG,..  HE PLAYES WITH MY KID REALLY GOOD, AND HAS NEVER KNOCKED HIM DOWN.   THE DOG IS HUGE.. (ABOUT 75-80 POUNDS)

LOL  TYHANKS FOR LETTING ME BRAG A LITTLE,   :chuckle:  I'LL TRY TO POST PICS LATER ON TODAY.

OH,  AND TO THOSE PEOPLE THAT SAID THAT WEIMARANERS ARE REALLY HARD HARD TO WORK WITH COMPARED TO A GSP,...

NOT TRUE IN THIS CASE..  :)

Just a suggestion but lose the choke chain while training especially while dragging a check cord. Good luck with the dog!

YA I DON'T USUALLY HAVE IT ON HIM, IT'S A PRONG COLLAR FOR WHEN MY WIFE WALKS HIM. HE LOVES TO PULL, AND SHE ISN'T TRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD HIM.

I OUT IT ON BECAUSE HE SNAPPED HIS REGULAR COLLAR ABOUT 5 MIN BEFORE THE PHOTO WAS TAKEN.  LOL

NOW I JUST NEED TO GET HIM GUN BROKEN  :IBCOOL:
