I plan on hitting a local lake at midnight so I can fish, then taking my girls to Borst for the juvenile fishing event.

yeah year round lakes rock but some people have been fishing the same lakes on the opener for a long time.   Kinda like tradition now.

I personally will fish any time, but my kids enjoy all the "hoopla" of opening day, reminds me of when I was a kid. they don't care about fishing as much as the event.
But then they have been bugging me to take them fishing for quite a while now....
