Hornady Interbond?

Who here has shot them and likes them? I just found out that two guys in my family use them strictly for bears. one with a 7mm, and the other with an 06. Both said they have had great results and great blood trails. So what's your opinion of this bullet?

What grain are they using out of the 7mm. Just curious as I bought a 7mm and have yet to sight it in and looking for the best rounds that are out there.

I haven't shot em.  I used to shoot the SST in my 280 and they were very accurate but too thin jacketed IMO.  I would assume the Interbond would shoot similiarly and have superior terminal performance.  Some of the data I've seen seems to show that they do retain their weight very well.  I wouldn't have any reservations about shootin em.

In the 7mm he shoots a 139 grain.
and not having reservations?? means you wouldn't?
I would like to shoot the barnes but i dont reload and they are way to expensive to buy off the shelf.

I WOULD shoot em.  I think they're a pretty darn good bullet. 

In a 7mag I'd probably shoot 150s though.  I don't think they make a 160 or I'd shoot that.  280, 7mm-08 the 139 is a good size. 

I currently do shoot the Barnes though.... they're awesome.

would anybody help me find factory ammo with the barnes X. so far cabelas has them for $43 a box for 30-06 180 grain. and Black Hills has them for $39 for the same caliber and bullet weight. is this a good price?

Check out Federal's website.  I believe they load them in their Premium line.  That price is in the ballpark.  Ammo has gotten really expensive the last couple years.

$40 seems to be about the going price. I think in 30-06 I'd shoot the 165 Barnes, rather than the 180's. With normal bullets I think the 180's are great, but with the Barnes you need pretty good velocity for them to open up. At least that's the way I think. The 180's might open up just fine but the Barnes stay together so well that a little extra velocity sure won't hurt, and you'll have the added bonus of less recoil.

I shoot hornady interbonds and love them. I had issues with the regular hornadys coming apart on impact but the interbonds hold up awesome. I have gotten a couple bullets out of deer that I shot quartered to me . The bulet smaked a bunch of bone and mushroomed perfect and stayed together . I would say just guesing it retained 80% of its weight, and thats breaking about 8 ribs and a shoulder.

interbond, accubond, and scirrocos are all virtually the same thing. Tipped, bonded, boat tails. I've used the interbond but switched to scirrocos. Just a little more accurate in my rifle. Anyways they are great bullets. They mushroom, penetrate, and retain weight. I recommend them to anyone who'll listen.

I believe the interlock and the SST are very similiar in jacket thickness and they way they are attached to the core.  It's possible that in the bigger cal (.338) that they hold up better and/or have a heavier jacket.  I have seen where a particular bullet design performs much better in a bigger heavier bullet (cal) than others.

 I have no experience in anything but the .284 bullets.  In that cal however I have seen poor performance in the 139, 154, and 162 grain bullets.... I have 2 other friends who have had similiar experiences in their 7mm guns.  It may be the velocities that they're being shot  .  I just know I wouldn't trust either the interlock or the SST in the .284.

I think any of the bonded bullets are going to perform well, but then if balistic coeficiants can be thrown into the mix too.

Just a note, with things being the way they are, the move to banning lead is probably closer than we think. When bullets go to all copper we will have to re-think all our re-loading unless you are using Barnes already.

I have had real good luck with all the Hornady bullets I have used. I use 270/130 grain and 300/180 grain Interbond flat base and VMax 22 caliber 55 grain alot.
