Corn and Soy Bean fed whitetails from my place in Missouri.  Nothing better.

I wonder how corn and soy bean fed blacktails would taste.  I have some grain corn and soy bean seeds to plant for the local critters this spring.

Never had the chance to chew on muleys although a muley hunt is on the top of my list for a "dream hunt".  Between whitetail and black tail, i'd go with the black tail for the most part...although that farm crop white tail doe my cousin took last year was one tasty critter!

Whichever one I have cut up.

My 2008 mule deer was our best tasting deer to date, I've had whitetail & blacktail but the mule deer was the best.  I attributed it to my best meat care so far, never really thought about different species tasting different. I had shot him when he was calm with my bow & he bled out in about 15 seconds, I had him quartered , down the mountain & on ice cooling in 2 hours. Tasted great ! We actually fed hamburger to lots of family & friends & no one ever knew the difference. First time for that. I shot him up in the Bumping , maybe he ate better all spring down low ?  Out of meat now & need another this year. Mike

Mike your right on, my blacktail this year was ridiculously good,  i attribute it to the fact that he was grazing for awhile pretty much pressure free, and I thwacked him with a double lung and heart shot. from arrow impact he was down and out in less than 2-3 minutes ran about 25 feet. Had him gutted within a half hour, hanging skin off in 1.5 hours and at the butcher the next morning.

I'm out of meat now though so its time!!!!

Most years I would put Whitetail at the top, but this year's SW Wa. blacktail is the best ever!

Thats why I have always loved bow hunting .. early season deer are awesome ..does not matter which one neither .... as long as its a quick kill not one gut shot and chased 3 miles ..... :chuckle:
