Not a good pic....see these much?
« on: May 03, 2011, 08:59:08 AM »
My dad has had these FLOOD his feeder in N. Idaho lately. Evening Grosbeaks. I'm not sure I've seen one in person... that lime green bill is interesting!

My dad's buddy had them in his feeders last summer. They are pretty cool looking.

I can't see the pic( at work), but run into them alot in the mountains.  THey are so ugly they are almost cool/pretty.   I'd like to see a red one.  I guess we have them but never have seen them.

I have to fill my feeder but we have a red one coming around every now and then.  I'll have the wife keep an eye out and snap some pics.

That would be cool.  I thought I had one last winter but it ended up being a crossbill, upon closer exam.  Thats also a cool bird.

They are inquisitive too. I've seen the black-headed and evening grosbeak's, but we also have the pine grosbeak, which I have yet to photograph. You need to be up pretty high to see them, at least higher than my house. :chuckle:
