This pistol has been nothing but trouble for me! First problem was the barrel blowing in half. I figure someone before me was shooting hot loads, so not a big deal, tarus cannot be responsible for that. I sent it in and they gave me a brand new pistol. Took it out today and after 2 shots I thought I had a misfire. Open the chamber, inspect my primer and close it and the cylinder won't lock! The thing just free spins! Sending back for the last time and trading it in at cabelas. Gonna take it in the shorts on the trade in value but I want a .44mag that won't cause me problems. The only good thing is the lifetime warranty, just sick of having to use it.

I would say a barrell blowing in half is a bit of a big deal...

Well yeah it was a big deal, but when people misuse firearms I won't blame the company. I assume it was hot loads, I hope It wasn't manufacturing error. I'm just dissappointed it's already havin problems again.

..I've had zero problems with my RagingBull 44mag.

I dont care how hot any loads were that were shot through that gun the barrel should not split it was obviously defective. And yes taurus can be responsible for that. Buy a Ruger or a Smith

Never met a Taurus I liked!
My M44 had nothing but problems. Great warranty service. But sometimes not worth it.

Before I bought it I heard nothing but good things, after it blew up I started hearing of more people with simialr stories. Oh well. Great warranty services, tires of using it. On another note I will have a brand new pistol here in a few weeks that will be for sale, any takers after this amazing review ; )

S&W is my choice. Ive never had good luck with taurus revolvers.

I bought a Judge and it was crap. I probably would have kept it if it patterned at all, I just wanted to shoot grouse with it. In Taurus' defense it's not there fault it wont pattern it was the rifling. The fit and finish was sub par though when I compare it to any of my smith, colt, rugers. I wasn't real impressed. I wore it in a holster once and the blueing was already wearing. That'll be the last taurus I buy.

A lot of guys like them but I think it's because they are relatively inexpensive. If they cost more they wouldn't be near as popular.

Smith's top strap is too weak for me, Ruger is a more solid revolver imho. I don't like the lock thingy on the Smith either.

I have a 7.5" stainless, .44 mag Redhawk and 4" stainless, .357 mag GP100... never a problem.

Ruger Redhawk, you will never have to buy another revolver again!!! Cant go wrong with Smith either. The taurus revovers I have shot just feel too weak to be firing rounds like the .44mag. Makes you wonder about their .454!!!

I have seven Taurus® revolvers.............
• Mdl 85B2CH 38 Special - 1994
• Mdl 669SS4CP 357 Magnum - 1996
• Mdl 85B2 38 Special - 1997
• Mdl 617SS2 357 Magnum - 2003
• Mdl 605SS3 357 Magnum - 2006
• Mdl 85SS2UL 38 Special - 2007
• Mdl 605SS2 357 Magnum - 2010

All have performed superbly and I continue to shoot them all almost every week.

I have only encountered these problems.........
• Mdl 85B2CH broke a firing pin after 11,000+ rounds. I replaced the firing pin & it's still going strong.
• Mdl 85SS2UL had the cylinder stop (part# 44) wear down after 10,000 rounds. Called Taurus® and they shipped the part right away. Installed new cylinder stop and now the gun works fine.

I have zero complaints with Taurus® customer service. The one time I had to send a gun in they fixed and returned it when they said they would. Specifically.....................
• Mdl 617 developed excessive cylinder to forcing cone gap (.011") after almost 6,000 rounds. I sent it to Taurus® and they replaced the cylinder and adjusted the crane and yoke. I've since put 2,000+ rounds through it and it's still going strong.

I will not hesitate to buy additional Taurus® revolvers. They are an outstanding value.

:)I bought a Tarus mod 94 22, it shot about 2 feet right at about 10 feet. Barrell was not aligned with sights. They replaced it free with another model 94 that shot about 2 feet right. Go figger.
I am done with them.

I have a Taurus 1911 and I love it, has never failed and I have run over 1000 rounds through it. I also have a Judge Public Defender and I like it too. .45 COLT rounds are nice but expensive, I started using the .410 handgun shells and they are nice. Looks like a stack of watch batteries followed by pellets. To each his own I guess but for the price you cant beat it.

i love my Sporting arms Seville, top strap is twice as thick as a ruger blackhawks and its built with better stainless & closer tolerances.
Smoothest revolver i have ever fondled.

by the ways its a 454 so its pretty hot with factory ammo
