Man.... he is a great lookin dog for 12!  I luv Goldens....

He really has aged well for a golden.  He has been far and above the most athletic golden I have seen.  It is pretty tough for him to get up in the mornings after a long hunt, so the past year I tried to limit him to four hour stretches.  The nice thing about an old dog is that they are easy to keep up with.  He has lived quite the life too.  He has survived a rattlesnake bite (which he had attacked and killed because it was near some little kids he was playing with), been hit by a car, had a 3" roofing nail in his foot, fought with a pair of coyotes that were in the front yard, and I guess that is about it.  Now my little girl sits in the backyard and shares her food with him.  One bite for Hagen, one bite for her.  Thank goodness he is clean.  I hope to get him out a few more times this year, but we'll see if he is able.  thanks for the comments, he is a great dog.

Here's my old golden.... awesome duck dog.  He got cancer at 7 1/2.  The second picture is of my current golden, he just turned 4.  I don't have any good huntin shots of him handy but this is a classic.  He's a really good upland dog... not quite as good in the cold water as my old dog.  He's on the small side... only 63lbs.  People often under estimated in the athletic ability of goldens.  All of the ones I've had were exceptionally agile and strong.  Great leaping ability, fast, etc.

Those are great looking dogs.  That first picture would be on my wall.  I tried to keep Hagen on the skinnier side as well, and he was right at 80 lbs as an adult.  His parents were pushing 100 though, they were real powerful.  They have such a reputation as a family dog that people make them fat and happy too often, to the detriment of the dog.

He's got that birdy look to him.  Is that right before your other action shot?

Rowdy at 10 weeks pointing a squirrel in the back yard.  He soon realized it's better to point birds and chase squirrels, damn near caught a couple too.
