i plan on drawing a sheep, moose, goat, deer, elk, and every other tag i put in for. so, i am looking for everyones honey holes. you can pm them to me, as to not let everyone on this site see em. thanks in advance, oh and by the way, do you think you can go scout and check those units out for me, cause i've never been there before and don't know what to expect.  :chuckle:

Say you have 4 people applying as a group and when your name gets drawn there are only 2 permits left; then you will not be selected.......but if you had applied as individual, then you would have been drawn.  That scenario is most likely to happen when applying for permits that have very limitted numbers available...... :twocents:

Thats why you put in for units that have more permits when you apply as a group.

For a couple of reasons. First, applying as individuals, each application has a chance of being drawn. When applying as a group, there's only one application, instead of multiple applications. So, if your group is two people, the chances of somebody drawing a permit, decreases by half, if you apply as a group.

The other factor is the one Curly posted.

Dont agree with ya on the fact that decreases by half! when you apply as an individual theres only one app. That doesnt pencil out ta me! other than the " if theres not enough permits available for your group size theory"..... the maximum group size is equal ta the # of permits!

Jrod, it's pretty simple. Just think about it without even taking points into consideration. If you are a "group" of two, and apply individually, there are two chances that ONE of you will draw a permit. But if you apply as a group, you only have one application in the draw, and only one chance to draw.

:yeah: the only time the group thing works good is if you have like 1 point and your buddy/buddies have a lot. They avg the point so if you have 1 and your buddy has 10 then u have 5 points for the draw.

Hypothetically, lets say chance of getting drawn is 50%.  If people apply individually then possibilities include Not selected+Not selected, Selected+Not selected, Not selected+Selected, Selected+Selected.  So with a 50% draw rate, the chance of at least one person getting drawn is 75%.  Not sure how the group hunt is actually drawn but here are a couple of possibilities:  If each person in the group is entered separately and if one or the other is drawn, the group gets tags would be one way...that would result in 3 out of 4 draws where both people would end up with tags (better than individually, so I suspect this is not the way it is done); If the group is entered as an entity (like an individual) then the group would have a 50:50 chance of getting drawn...that would result in a 50% chance of both getting drawn or not drawn.  If you had 4-2 person groups that applied individually that would result in 4 tags and 3/4 groups getting to hunt, though not everyone would have bull tags.  If the same groups applied as groups, then there would be 4 tags issued but only 2/4 of the groups would get to hunt, but all individuals would have bull tags.

Does checking the status every 10 minutes prove that I'm excited.  I think this is leading into a problem.  Come on WDFW post the draws...the anticipation is killing me!!!!!  I'm gonna be dissapointed if it goes beyond the 17th this year.  Probably building my hopes on quicksand.  I drew last year one out of 8 picks but am hoping to get what I want this year...I'm just as excited for others in the group to draw.  Crossing my fingers.
