Shad...
« on: June 12, 2011, 01:02:42 PM »
Hello all I am looking to aquire about 20 of these little buggers for a family trip to westport in july, I will try and get some for myself but figured I would throw out an offer to anyone looking to get rid of some, I have some deer and elk pepperoni and (hot) beerdogs in exchange for them.. Let me know.

thanks

I fished yesterday for about 5.5hrs and caught 17 lost 2 and missed a few more bites. It was good fishing yesterday. Saw probably around 300-400 caught. I also caught 2 salmon why fishing for shad! one wild about 4-5lbs and a 20.70lb-36" long monster!

I almost went up yesterday but found out it was free fishing weekend, thought it would be more of a zoo than it already is...

I was surprised myself. There was about 75 or so people below the guard shack and it was very crowded for awhile until later in the day. Even down by the crap shack when I was plunking for about 5 hrs wasn't to bad.

I guess it was slower in the evenings. The guys that had been down there since 5 a.m told me it was hot in the morning and died off. But It was still good fishing. They caught a huge ice chest full yesterday probably 75 or so between 2 of them. they caught about 25 why I was there. So the fishing was about 2x better in the morning.

I have always found shad to bite better in the morning and on sunny days. Them dark cloudy days suck for shad bites.

I got into some this weekend after limiting out on kings. We dropped below a wing dam and picked up a few but the clouds rolled in and the bite was off.

Good fishin at the dam rite now.
Lots of shad to be had.
Some good size salmon being caught. I netted a 25lber today for a guy. Mommason had the shad net ready, but it wouldn't have held the tail.
