rehabilitation of basin lakes

would like some opinions on the current WDFW program of poisoning and rehabbing warm water lakes Quincy Burke,and many more for early trout. do you think that is best or enhance warm water species instead?

I think that they are better suited for bass and pan fish anyway. Stock em full of trout before the opener if you must, but leave the bass so there is something to fish for after the 1st two weekends of the opener. All these "trout lakes in the basin get slammed at the beginning of the season and are pretty poor after that. Bass fishing is good all summer.

I would like to see more lakes stocked with channel cats. If I want to fish for trout, I'll head to the mountains, not quincy.

I don't remember the exact numberr but was told at a meeting held by WDFW that a large majority of people who purchase fishing licenses in WA state do so just for the opener of trout season and that is why they try to keep those lakes up as trout lakes.

Thats exactly why the WDFW won't let you buy a 2 day license for the trout opener. They make a ton of money selling full season licenses to guys that only fish 2 days per year.

It's a bunch of BS paying to stock a lake that nature stocks for free!  Bass and other warmwater fish taste better than stocker trout anyways.

I agree Lokidog. Those white fleshed stocker trout are as flavorless as fish can be. I think they are worthless myself. More bass, walleye and catfish please. Oh, and some nice big crappie and bluegills too.

Bass don't belong in the northwest, period!  Rehab them all and make make bass fishing illegal.

I Guess that is why I wanted opinions, I myself would rather catch crappie ,perch ,bluegill and bass, rather than the stock-er trout. In fact at times prior to rehab these lakes do produce really large trout that have adapted to eating warmwater small fry, So why do "we the People" continually allow WDFW do whatever they think will produce the most revenue.
also the stock trucks have downsized to a 1 ton with a 500 gallon tank.
and they are not planting the numbers as they have in the past, this should be considered to be defrauding the sports folks of their hard earned dollars :dunno:just my opinion and

I tried using a stringer full of stocker trout as crab bait, but the crab wouldn't even eat them. No flavor!
