Last year they were pushing for new laws re: snowmachines on the winter range. Fingers crossed.

We were stalking that palmated buck in the pics when we heard some machines coming in the distance. Even though they were still a long way off, the buck heard them and was listening to them while I snapped these shots, he took off in a hurry not to long after this, at that point we had been stalking him for about 2 hours and had gotten to about 100 yards, pretty upsetting actually.

No doubt that would drive a guy to drink... He's got 9 lives.

Doubtful my partner would have hit him had we got within shooting distance anyway. :chuckle:

Those are some great pictures thank you.  I am looking forward to a great hunt.  It's going to be a long summer and fall.  Need to do lots of fishing to keep myself busy.  I'm going to put off getting new tires till fall and I have 2 sets of chains hopefully that will get me a ways up there.  Keep those pictures and tips coming.  At least I'll have something to dream about til November. :)

Congrats on drawing an awesome tag. We had that late tag last year and got a bunch of snow at the begging of the hunt. We saw decent bucks every day but the bigger bucks I felt showed there faces towards the end of the season. You will need the 2 sets of chains if there is snow. And it does get cold we had single digit temperatures. Walk the ridges and take good binos. take your time with the binos the deer will pop out all over if you take the time to glass good. Here are a couple of pics from last year I shot this buck on the second to the last day. Good luck and keep us posted.
