Siouxen elk Hunt

I drew a late archery tag for bulls in the Siouxen unit. I have only been there a couple times if anyone has any advice or some spots to check out would you please sent me a PM. you dont have to worry about me takeing you spot I have no plans of hunting this unit during the early season. thanks.

It's a huge unit. Either start in Cougar and work your way south and east, or start over by Trout lake and go north. It's a lot of up and down with some really thick stuff, but there's plenty of walking meat.

Its steep, steeper, and steepest. Hard unit to hunt. I would try around the Siouxon river.

I know the unit very well, made lots of clear cuts up there. If I were you I would hunt it early season, unless you have a real hot spot for the early season. here are a few pics of some bulls that I have taken from there.

Thats exactly where I was thinking of starting. Thanks for some pointers hopefully  I will tag out in the early season and wont have to hunt there but the help is apreciated.

If you're hunting it late season from the trout lake side you better have snow shoes or a snowmobile to get in. That time of year there will be 2.5 to 5 feet of snow in there

If you start in Cougar, theres only 1 road to go up. I was there a few weeks back and they put a new gate on the road just on the other side of thr bridge in Cougar. It's very steep country too. Good luck

when late season comes around, lmk how it turns out, I got a antlerless archery tag for the unit and if early season doesnt pan out in willapa hills ill be out there looking for some meat and any info/ guidance would be greatly appreciated.

C'mon, you can figure it out.  Find out who the wildlife biologist is for the area and contact that person, they will let you know.  That is exactly what I did for the Lewis River and he gave me exact locations to hunt where they have had the highest success rate for that unit.  Worth a shot.
