Model of 1917 Winchester value? Thinking of selling.
« on: June 16, 2011, 09:47:11 AM »
Don't have a digital camera to load photos so I'm using this for reference.  Mine is missing both of the upper and lower front hand guards.  The rest of the Stock is 99%+ perfect.  There is some bluing worn through where the front barrel band had held the guards.  The bolt, floor plate and metal cap on the butt are free of all bluing.  The bolt handle, receiver are also near perfect.

I'm looking for a value, thinking $500-600?  In 95-100% with all original parts I've seen them Auction for $1300

This has been very well cleaned and the bore looks good.

Mike, look at what is selling on Gunbrokers or other sites.  Nice looking weapon!
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

mine looks just as in the photos, its worth 500 +/-

your being altered & having the wood cut short and missing parts you would be lucky to get $150-$200 for it.
if it still has the steel in factory specs retaining the original sights intact and not ground off, you might get more, but again an altered rifle isnt collectable.

I collect these & i may be interested but i only pay around $150 for an altered sporter then give them to my nephews when they complete hunters safety.

Mike,
Phishgroovin is correct, the gun has to be complete and not refinished in any way to have value to a gun collector. If it is incomplete then the value goes down alot. They even lose value if the numbers on the various pieces of the gun don't match, (receiver, bolt, stock etc...).

It hasn't been altered or cut.  It's just missing the 3 hand guards and 2 barrel bands, which I have seen on eBay cheap enough. Blue the bolt, butt plate and floor plate it's 98/99%  minus the guards...

Kinda need some$$ for DR. bills, kinda...then again after what I already sold off from the bundle of stuff this came in it cost me about $26...Can't repeat that kind of deal...  Gotta laugh too, when I picked it out as one I would take away from the sale I really had no ideas about it   I did see one in 100% auction for $1200   All SN# match.  Winchester and Springfield Armory marks on all metal...  Damn I'd sure hate to be the guy getting Buttstroked with this..

there is only two handguards, they are on top.
The lower stock goes all the way out to the muzzle almost on an unaltered stock
yours has been cut if you say the lower front handguard is missing, only because there isnt one, its a stock part that is missing.
see image without metal rings below.

and this ebay sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/1917-Enfield-Remington-stock-/130536196724?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSI%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BRTU%252BUA%252BFICS%26otn%3D10%26pmod%3D110697075325%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D790736692613148688

Remington, Eddystone & Winchester are all the same rifle just different by means of stamps on the wood & proof marks on the steel.
